Since I was 12 i've been obsessed with cleaning, re-arranging, and
decorating my bedroom! Needless to say, it always gets messy again!
But hey! Here's some advice to make your room
look cool and have your
friends want to hang out in it...24/7!
Cleaning-
The first thing you have to do is...yes,
clean. Your room needs to be
clean before you can re-arrange, add, or do anything to it! So thats
what I suggest you
do first. Start from one end of the room and work
your way around. I suggest starting under your bed. Make sure there
is nothing lurking under there first, like a spider, mouse, or
disgusting old food that you dont want to touch without
gloves on!
Then, start pulling things out. Strip the comforter off your bed,
actually take all of your stuff of your
bed and put it in another
room while you clean and re-arrange. Next I suggest putting anything
that could be broken,
out in another room. (I.E. Glass, Electronics,
etc.)
Then start going through your drawers. Grab some boxes, bags,
or
anything else you can put old clothes in. Strip your drawers of old
clothes you dont want. If something is stained
and you cant remove
the stain, throw it away or see if you can make something out of it.
If something just doesnt
fit you anymore, give it to Good Will. If
something is for the summery season, put it in a big box and store it
some
place. In your closet, in the shed, wherever. Do this with your
other drawers too-ones containing books, make up, etc.
Throw all old
make up you cant use anymore away. Any books you dont read, give to
good will or the library. And anything
else you find- old toys,
magazines, etc. figure out something to do with. Throw away, give
away, store away. Make
sure your whole room is spotless. Then, start
whiping things down. Whipe down your furniture before you move it.
Vacuum
the floor. Put floor sprinkles down and then vacuum them up,
in a scent you really love. (I usually use this rose stuff.)
Make
sure you cleaned the inside of your closet and vacuum the inside of
it too. Careful though, look to make sure
there are no spiders on the
walls first.
Re-Arranging-
Move any small furniture out of your room to make way
for the nice
stuff. I suggest putting your furniture where it looks nice, you have
space, and it makes it more home-y.
Turn your desk away from your tv,
if you dont have curtains, I suggest you dont put your bed next to
the window, unless
you want some guy staring at you while you sleep!
(I have had an experience with that, I would choose not to re-live!)
Make sure you get your furniture the way you want to leave it for a
while. After you have all your big furniture moved,
move your small
furniture back in. After its all settled, move in your electronics
and glass stuff. Organize all your
stuff the way you like it.
Decorating-
I suggest you dont do your room one certain color. Like, dont have
purple
walls and a purple comforter because your room will have to be
completely color-cordinated. Everything else in your room
will have
to be purple and that can be a bad thing. Just find a comforter you
like, and if your walls are white, keep
them like that! Or, if you
really want purple walls, get a different color comforter. Like, get
a lime green comforter
with flowers or something. You can find some
